What type of needles do you recommend for the Meistergram machines?
Our recommended brand is Schmetz, but any needle brand will work. The normal replacement needle is system DBXK5 in sharp or ball point. Ball point needles are designated SES for light ball point.
What type of hooks do you recommend?
Genuine Koban hooks are our preferred hook for Meistergram and most brands of embroidery machines.
How often to oil your rotary hook?
Rotary hooks should be oiled every 4 hours or twice a day while in use.
How do i know if my timing is off?
When the rotary hook slips out of it's position, the machine will begin to fail to lock the stitches resulting in loose stitches or failure to sew in general depending how far off the timing has moved.
What is 3D Puff Embroidery and how i can do it?
3D Puff Embroidery is the process of using a sheet of foam and altering the digitizing by closing column ends and adding to density in order to raise the layering of the embroidery. Follow our How-To Embroider 3D Puff.
Meistergram machines have a full onboard operation system which even includes onboard lettering on some of the models, they do not require a computer to operate.
What is the difference between Cut-Away and Tear-Away?
Cut-Away backing is mostly used on light, delicate and stretchable fabrics to prevent puckering and maintain the shape of the design even after a wash, the excess must be cut off.
Tear-Away backing is used on stable materials to provide hooping stability and can easily be removed by tearing it off the fabric.
